Baraya Extended Care, a portfolio company of TVM Capital Healthcare, has announced the opening of its second rehabilitation outpatient clinic in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The facility aims to address the growing need for long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) and rehabilitation services in the region.

With public hospitals facing capacity constraints, dedicated rehabilitation and LTPAC facilities like Baraya’s are essential to improving patient outcomes and reducing hospital burdens, the company said in a media release shared by Zawya

The centre also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which prioritises addressing the shortage of LTPAC and rehabilitation beds amid a rapidly ageing population.

Baraya Extended Care CEO Jad Halaby said: “Our mission is to provide a comprehensive range of extended care services, addressing a critical need in the Kingdom.

“With an initial nine facilities planned, we will combine international standards and local expertise to contribute to developing the healthcare sector and improving the lives of patients and families in Saudi Arabia.”

The latest announcement comes almost a month after Baraya opened its first rehabilitation outpatient clinic in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh.

This Riyadh facility offers a broad range of advanced and intensive rehabilitation services and therapies such as occupational, physical, and speech and language therapies.

Baraya’s expansion plan further includes opening six rehabilitation outpatient clinics, offering several therapies and specialised services, and three long-term care hospitals catering to the ageing population and younger patients with serious injuries or congenital diseases.

The company’s first in-patient long-term care hospital, currently under construction, is set to open in Abha by 2025-end.

The upcoming Abha hospital will cater to a broad region, addressing the needs of several densely populated areas.

It is expected to generate employment for more than 500 people in Saudi Arabia, contributing significantly to the local workforce.

Baraya said that the selection of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Abha for Baraya’s initial phase of openings was based on population density and the scarcity of similar services.
