BJC HealthCare and Encompass Health have announced the opening of an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the US.
The 40-bed Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois, which is located at 2351 Frank Scott Parkway East in Shiloh, features all private patient rooms.
It also has a therapy gym with modern rehabilitation technologies, a therapy courtyard, a dayroom and a cafeteria.
The Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois has been opened to serve patients who are recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries.
They include neurological disorders, strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions.
The hospital offers 24-hour nursing care, physical, occupational and speech therapies for restoring functional ability.
BJC HealthCare Group president Joan Magruder said: “This is a wonderful addition to the portfolio of services in the Metro East. It’s a big win for local residents.”
The new facility is 146th inpatient rehabilitation hospital of Encompass Health and second in Illinois.
Another two hospitals are also planned for opening this year in Illinois.
Encompass Health president and CEO Mark Tarr said: “We are excited to open this new hospital in Shiloh as a joint venture between Encompass Health, a national leader in post-acute healthcare services, and Protestant Memorial Medical Center, an affiliate of BJC HealthCare, one of the largest non-profit healthcare organisations in the country.
“We remain committed to making a difference in the communities we serve by improving access to high-quality, individualised rehabilitative care.”
Encompass Health has a national footprint that comprises 146 hospitals, 251 home health locations, in addition to 96 hospice locations in 42 states and Puerto Rico.
