Bon Secours, part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, has announced an expansion of its partnership with North American Partners in Anaesthesia (NAPA) to provide anaesthesia services at Harbour View Medical Center in Suffolk, Virginia, US.

The move will begin between March and June and marks a step forward for both organisations in delivering improved perioperative care.

Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center, which provides emergency, surgical, and speciality care in the Hampton Roads region, has chosen NAPA for its experience in anaesthesia services.

The decision was influenced by NAPA’s clinical quality programmes, informatics, and revenue cycle management (RCM) features.

NAPA South Region Clinical Services vice-president Clavio Ascari said: “NAPA’s local leadership, regional oversight, and national infrastructure allow us to consistently drive a high-quality, data-backed anaesthesia model that improves surgical efficiency, enhances patient safety, and optimises hospital operations.”

This collaboration is in line with Bon Secours’ focus on delivering patient-focused care while enhancing operational efficiency.

The new contract builds on an existing relationship between Bon Secours and NAPA.

In March 2021, NAPA offered anaesthesia services at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg and Bon Secours Southern Virginia Medical Center in Emporia.

NAPA’s specialised expertise in revenue cycle management (RCM) facilitates transparent billing processes that improve financial performance, without compromising the patient experience.

Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center president Andrew Spicknall said: “As we continue to grow and serve our community, it was important to align with an anaesthesia group that shares our commitment to clinical excellence and innovation.

“NAPA’s extensive experience and data insights to improve perioperative efficiency made them an ideal choice.”

In April 2024, Bon Secours Mercy Health, along with Compass Surgical Partners and local physicians, announced the opening of a new ambulatory surgery centre in South Carolina, US.
