Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the US has appointed Julia Mason as the new chief nursing officer (CNO) and senior vice-president (SVP) of Patient Care Services.
The new appointment will come into effect from 10 June 2024.
After assuming the new role, Mason is expected to bring her experience in nursing and leadership roles to support Brigham’s commitment to providing enhanced patient care.
Mason will be joining Brigham from The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio, where she currently holds the position of SVP of Patient Care Services and CNO for the hospital division.
Commenting on her appointment, Mason said: “I’m so pleased to join the Brigham family and am deeply committed to continuing the Brigham’s long tradition of excellence in nursing. I’m honoured to be a part of such a talented team of healthcare providers.”
With over three decades of experience in the nursing field, Mason’s career began as a clinical nurse deployed in critical care settings, Brigham noted.

Her previous roles have also included chief nursing officer at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center and UH Bedford and Richmond Medical Centers, both located in Ohio.
Additionally, she has served as Vocera Communications’ senior clinical executive.
