Broward Health has announced plans for an expansion project that includes the construction of two new medical office buildings and a parking garage at its facilities in Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach, South Florida, US.

The project, which is a collaborative effort with The Beck Group and DMZ Architects, will introduce new facilities that are expected to open by 2027.

Broward Health president and CEO Shane Strum said: “The new medical office buildings will serve as a cornerstone for our ongoing growth, allowing us to expand our network of physicians and services to better meet the needs of our patients.”

Designed to be flexible and scalable, the buildings will be able to meet the changing healthcare needs of the community.

The Broward Health Medical Center’s building will span 188,000ft2 over eight floors, featuring 129 exam rooms with the potential to expand to 237.

It will house various specialties such as cardiovascular services, primary care, pulmonology, gastroenterology, women’s services, neuroscience, and additional space for future expansion.

The Broward Health North medical office building will cover 114,000ft2 across six floors, with 75 exam rooms that could increase to 123.

This building will focus on specialties including neuroscience, cardiovascular services, orthopaedics, and also includes space for future growth.

The parking garage at Broward Health Medical Center will be a seven-floor structure with a capacity of approximately 700 parking spaces, encompassing 300,000ft2.

Additionally, the project features a standardised clinic floor design to ensure consistency and flexibility throughout the healthcare system.

Broward Health Physician Group CEO Dane Ficco said: “This expansion not only highlights our growth as a trusted healthcare provider, but also reinforces our dedication to improving patient care with the most advanced facilities.”

The expansion complements the development of new freestanding emergency departments.
