Burjeel Holdings, a healthcare provider in the MENA region, and UAE’s national airline Etihad Airways have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve Abu Dhabi’s medical tourism.
This collaboration offers access to healthcare for international patients.
The MoU was formalised by Etihad Airways Health and Wellbeing director Dr Muntaser Husein and Burjeel Holdings Abu Dhabi Emirate and Oman chief operating officer Dr Mohammad Qaddoura.
This partnership combines Burjeel’s medical expertise with Etihad’s international network, supporting Abu Dhabi’s ambition to attract more medical tourists.
In addition to promoting medical tourism, the agreement establishes referral pathways for international patients, facilitating direct case management and access to clinicians.
Burjeel Holdings will provide healthcare coverage for Etihad’s workforce and their families by offering access to its hospital network and medical centres across various locations in the UAE.
Dr Muntaser Husein said: “This collaboration will streamline medical services for international travellers seeking specialised treatment in Abu Dhabi. The partnership with Burjeel Holdings allows us to provide our employees and their families with exceptional medical care, offering access to some of the most advanced healthcare services in the region.”
As part of the MoU, Burjeel will launch health awareness programmes and wellness lectures to improve employee well-being.
Etihad employees will also receive priority access to medical services.
Dr Mohammad Qaddoura said: “By integrating Burjeel Holdings’ healthcare expertise with Etihad’s global network, we are creating a seamless system for medical access, high-quality treatment, and unparalleled patient experience.
“Our goal is to ensure that every traveller, employee, and family member can receive world-class medical care with ease and efficiency.”
Burjeel Holdings offers services including oncology, bone marrow transplantation, multi-organ transplants, and more.
In February 2025, Burjeel Holdings purchased an 80% stake in Advanced Care Oncology Center (ACOC) in Dubai and announced plans for a radiation oncology network in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
