CareView Communications, an integrated virtual care solutions provider for the healthcare industry, has launched ‘Software Version 5.12’, marking a significant advancement in its virtual care technology and patient safety.

The software update introduces Virtual Room Rails, a new feature designed to monitor patients at risk of elopement, by using computer vision to alert staff when such patients approach an exit.

Besides, the latest update also includes a native integration with Spok, which allows virtual sitters to instantly communicate with unit staff, thereby improving the overall safety of patients.

CareView said that this integration is part of its ongoing efforts to enable hospitals to maximise the use of their existing infrastructure.

Additionally, Software Version 5.12 features the CareView Patient Observation module, which allows hospital staff to visualise and document patient information.

The company stated that this module works in conjunction with the SitterView client, ensuring that the patient behaviour is documented without compromising safety or visibility.

CareView chief product and technology officer Derek del Carpio said: “Our team is excited to announce the release of Software Version 5.12, as it reflects our commitment to the evolving needs of the health systems we serve.

“Working with our hospital partners, we have designed and incorporated many new features that will positively impact patient safety and care.”

The company’s latest software release underscores its goal to collaborating with hospital partners to develop new virtual care solutions.

At present, CareView’s virtual care solutions are aiding over 200 hospitals in the US, enhancing inpatient care and addressing staffing challenges.

The CareView platform is said to be powered by predictive technology and supported by specialised hardware, catering to the specific needs of virtual nursing and sitting.

The company’s team collaborates closely with hospital partners to understand their needs and provide customised virtual care strategies that support their goals.

Last year in December, CareView expanded its partnership with a regional health system in North Texas to deploy its mobile cameras to improve patient monitoring within the healthcare setting.
