Cedars-Sinai International, the global arm of non-profit health system Cedars-Sinai, has opened an office in Singapore.

Located in Singapore’s Novena medical hub area, the office will be headed by Steven Tucker, an American medical oncologist with around 20 years’ experience working in Singapore.

The facility will serve as a conduit for patients and their families in South-East Asia seeking specialised care in Los Angeles, particularly in cardiology, neurology, oncology and other key specialities.

In addition, it will support ongoing cooperation and knowledge exchange between US clinicians and medical researchers, as well as their counterparts in Southeast Asia.

Cedars-Sinai Cancer deputy director Robert Figlin said: “By first meeting international patients in their home community, we can establish a comprehensive, patient-centric continuum of care with the goal of improving treatment outcomes for even the most complex cases.

“We work together with patients’ local physicians to provide each patient with a personalised treatment plan.”

Cedars-Sinai International’s other global offices are located in Mexico City, Mexico, and Shanghai, China.

The organisation plans to expand its presence by opening new locations in Qatar, Ecuador and other regions.

Cedars-Sinai is a non-profit academic healthcare organisation that has been serving the Los Angeles community since 1902.

Originally founded as a 12-bed hospital, it now operates in more than 40 locations, with a team of more than 4,500 physicians and nurses.

The organisation is currently involved in more than 1,500 research projects.

Cedars-Sinai International CEO Heitham Hassoun said: “We are pleased to be extending Cedars-Sinai’s presence with our third global office as we continue to build an international healthcare ecosystem.

“Through this expansion, we are enhancing global accessibility to Cedars-Sinai’s leading-edge medical expertise and outstanding patient care.”

Last October, Cedars-Sinai launched a mobile app, Cedars-Sinai Connect, to help California residents connect virtually with healthcare experts.
