US-based Children’s Minnesota has announced funding support from the Robert M Jones Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation to improve paediatric care.

The $3m unrestricted funding will be strategically allocated over the next three years to support the organisation’s most pressing needs.

The first tranche of $1m will be used for community support through 2025, with the aim of inspiring collective action.

This funding will enhance the organisation’s capacity to provide essential treatment and technologies, as well as vital support services such as child life specialists, interpreters, advocates and social workers.

Children’s Minnesota Foundation senior vice-president, chief development officer and president Jenny Soderholm said: “We are incredibly grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity. This unrestricted gift allows us the flexibility to invest strategically in areas that will have the greatest impact on children’s lives.

“It reflects a profound trust in our vision and ensures our kid experts can continue providing exceptional care to families across our region.”

Robert Jones, a long-time Children’s Minnesota supporter, had previously established an endowment to support the organisation’s bereavement programme in 2001.

Children’s Minnesota is known for offering over 60 paediatric specialities across its two hospitals, clinics and multiple speciality centres throughout the metro area.

It recently became the first health system in Minnesota to offer an advanced treatment for babies born with cleft lip.

In February 2025, the healthcare system entered an agreement with HCLTech to enhance operational efficiency through the use of AI.

This partnership was aimed at streamlining service delivery and improving patient care within the paediatric health system.
