Construction is set to commence in July 2023 on the new Dawson Creek and District Hospital in British Columbia, Canada, with opening scheduled in 2027.

Graham Design Builders has been chosen as the project’s preferred proponent and tasked with design and construction of the hospital on 263,000ft2 area, the British Columbia Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The new facility will provide various services including chemotherapy, surgical, ambulatory care, radiology, clinical support and pharmacy.

It will feature 70 beds, 24 more than the existing hospital, while the emergency unit will double in size.

Treatment spaces will grow from 10 to 15 including a space for physical rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory.

A perinatal unit including labour, delivery, recovery and post-partum rooms, and a nursery will also be added.
