US-based energy company Direct Energy is donating $30,000 to both the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, two children’s hospitals in Alberta, Canada.

These contributions are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to support the well-being of Alberta customers, their families and the wider community.

Direct Energy – Canada Home vice-president Tanis Kozak said: “We’re grateful to have the opportunity to support two organisations that are making a difference in the lives of so many Albertans.

“We’re honoured to support these hospitals by making an investment in hope, healing and the health of our communities.”

The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation will use the funds to support research, equipment and care programmes focused on patients and their families.

The hospital invests in vital programmes, technology and expertise to aid severely ill and injured children, as well as research efforts aimed at discovering new treatments and cures.

Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation president and CEO Saifa Koonar said: “We are so grateful to Direct Energy and its customers for supporting the kids and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital with this generous donation.”

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation plans to use its donation to enhance its services and facilities by investing in people, programmes, equipment, research and training.

The hospital aims to continue providing care for children with complex medical needs, advancing specialised healthcare, and supporting family-centred care programmes.

Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation development officer Jodaye Stuart said: “The funds donated by Direct Energy will support the most urgent needs at the Stollery, ensuring that kids from backyards across Alberta receive the care they need when they need it.”

Direct Energy previously donated $15,000 to each of these hospitals in 2020 and has participated in annual ‘radiothon’ events to benefit the hospitals.
