US-based healthcare networking service Doximity has announced its integration with MEDITECH, one of the US’ most widely used electronic health record (EHR) systems.

The integration will allow medical professionals to initiate Doximity Dialer voice or video telehealth visits directly from MEDITECH’s physician-facing native app, Expanse Now.

This enables medical professionals to access patient records and communicate with patients virtually from a single screen.

Physicians can customise their caller ID and remove the need to manually search and dial patient phone numbers, saving time and improving patient pick-up rates.

Doximity co-founder and CEO Jeff Tangney said: “At Doximity, we are committed to delivering solutions that help doctors be more productive so they can provide better care for their patients.

“Dialer’s integration with MEDITECH Expanse Now simplifies clinical workflow and streamlines communications between medical professionals and their patients.”

Doximity Dialer offers one-click voice and video visits, custom caller ID, and device and language optimisation.

The system is designed to enable seamless transitions between voice and video calls.

It reportedly meets the rules of the US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the necessary requirements for protecting patients’ health information.

Hospitals and health systems across the US can use Dialer to reduce ‘no-show’ rates and extend their reach within local communities.

MEDITECH product management and strategy director Rebecca Lancaster said: “We are excited to collaborate with Doximity to enhance our telehealth capabilities for our customers.

“The integration of Doximity Dialer with MEDITECH Expanse Now will help reduce friction for our users and ultimately increase efficiency in care coordination.

“We believe this integration will ultimately allow busy medical professionals to provide better, more timely care for their patients.”

Founded in 2010, Doximity is currently used by more than 80% of physicians across all specialities and practice areas in the US.
