Malaysian company GDB Holdings has been appointed as the main contractor for the construction of a new private hospital in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil. 

GDB Holdings has secured the RM306m ($64.65m) contract through its wholly owned subsidiary Grand Dynamic Builders Sdn Bhd (GDBSB). 

KL International Hospital, a subsidiary of healthcare and wellness-themed master township development KL Wellness City, awarded the contract.   

As part of the contract, GDBSB will be responsible for the design, construction, completion and commissioning of the hospital, including the provision and maintenance of machinery and equipment. 

The project, which is a part of the Kuala Lumpur’s Wellness City initiative, is expected to enhance the company’s order book significantly. 

With this latest project, GDB’s current order book has surged to RM475m, a substantial increase from RM169m recorded on 30 September 2023.

The company plans to finance the hospital’s construction through internal funds and/or potential bank loans. 

The project is set to commence on 16 March 2024 and will be executed over a period of next 25 months. 

According to GDB Holdings, the upcoming hospital is envisioned as the focal point of KL Wellness City, aiming to establish a hub for healthcare and medical services, catering to both global and domestic population.  

Once open, the facility will feature Centres of Excellence in various medical specialties, such as spine health, cardiology, sports medicine, cosmetic surgery, fertility, among others.
