GoHealth Urgent Care has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with healthcare provider Novant Health to jointly create a large network of urgent care centres across North Carolina in the US.

Novant Health operates an integrated network of physician clinics, outpatient facilities and hospitals.

Under the first phase of the partnership, GoHealth and Novant will set up at least 15 centres in greater Charlotte and Winston-Salem.

Through the urgent care centres, the partners intend to provide local communities access to high quality, patient-focussed care.

According to Novant Health, the proposed centres will serve as after-hours alternative to emergency room visits and will be equipped with on-site laboratory and X-ray services.

The centres will also treat non-life threatening injuries such as colds, flu, fever, asthma, allergies, minor skin lacerations, cuts, burns, urinary tract infections, fractures, sprains and strains.

GoHealth Urgent Care CEO Todd Latz said: “Combining the remarkable care that Novant Health has long been known for with our innovative, consumer-focused approach to urgent care will enable us to provide more personalised and deeply connected care, complete with integrated electronic medical records and unmatched online check-in and pre-registration tools.

“Our patients will also have access to same-day or next-day appointments with Novant Health specialists and other high-quality caregivers across Charlotte and Winston-Salem when needed.”

The opening of the first urgent care centre under the partnership will take place in Winston-Salem next year.

Thereafter, Novant Health-GoHealth Urgent Care will open several new and renovated centres in the greater Charlotte area over the subsequent 12-18 months. The expansion is expected to continue into 2020 and beyond.

Operations at existing Novant Health urgent care clinics will not be affected during the partnership transition.
