Kano state Governor Abba Yusuf has officially reopened the Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital in Kano, Nigeria, which was reportedly sold by the previous administration.
Established in 1990, the 33-year old hospital had been sold to an individual during the previous administration, but the present government revoked the sale in June.
The reopened 86-bed facility aims to address high infant morbidity and mortality rates in the state by providing essential medical services, including general paediatric consultations, outpatient care, immunisation, nutritional services, research, training, and referrals.
Governor stated: “I believe that the recovery of this will reduce the burden of medical and surgical healthcare challenges for the good people of Kano State, especially our dear children who are vulnerable to all sorts of diseases.”
According to the The News Nigeria, the facility will provide free maternal healthcare services.
Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero said: “It has been rendering essential services to our children, especially the less privileged.
