The New South Wales (NSW) Government is investing a further A$400m ($252.6m) to expand the new hospital project at Rouse Hill, whose construction is due to start next year.

Health Minister Ryan Park confirmed the funding, which takes the government’s total funding commitment for the project to A$700m.

Park said: “Our government is committed to delivering a hospital of the future at Rouse Hill that will lead the way in patient-centred care, innovation and research.

“Rouse Hill Hospital will be one of the first hospitals under our government to combine the best contemporary healthcare facilities with services that support our highly skilled workforce, including childcare and health worker accommodation.”

The investment aims to address the healthcare needs of communities in north-western Sydney by offering a comprehensive range of healthcare services.

These include emergency and urgent care, in-patient beds, day surgery and short-stay medical assessments.

Additional services offered at the hospital will include pathology, pharmacy, medical imaging, virtual care, prehabilitation, rehabilitation and lifestyle medicine programmes.

The facility will also provide outpatient and ambulatory care services, including paediatrics, renal care, maternity services and women’s health.

The community is encouraged to participate in the consultation process through the project website.

The design and consultation phase of the development will continue for the rest of this year.

Julia Underwood has been named as General Manager of Rouse Hill Hospital. In this role, she will establish the hospital’s executive team and oversee its operational, governance and built environment plans.

Park said: “With more than 26 years’ experience working for NSW Health, Julia’s most recent role was Director of Redevelopment at Campbelltown Hospital.

“Julia has the unique skills required to support the delivery of this state-of-the-art hospital.”
