According to HR HealthCare, the device includes features intended to provide hygienic self-catheterisation and to protect the catheter during use and transport.

The catheter remains inside a protective housing to reduce the chance of contact with hands or external surfaces. It also has a soft silicone, pre-lubricated introducer tip, which the company states is intended to help bypass the distal urethra.

HR HealthCare referenced published evidence regarding introducer-tip catheter designs and their use among intermittent catheter users with respect to urinary tract infection outcomes.

Liv packaging includes individually wrapped catheters and features a proprietary EZ Advancer locking mechanism.

The company said the packaging aims to protect the catheter from potential contamination while remaining portable. The EZ Advancer locking mechanism is designed to enable smooth, controlled insertion.

HR HealthCare president and CEO Colby Wiesman said: “Intermittent catheterisation is part of everyday life for many women, and the device they use should fit into that life as seamlessly as possible. Liv reflects our commitment to the bladder-management category, meaningful innovation, and women’s quality of life.

“By bringing clinically informed technology together with thoughtful, purpose-built design, we are expanding our portfolio with a product intended to support active women who self-catheterise.”

HR HealthCare regional sales director Sara Zebouni said: “Through ongoing conversations with women who use intermittent catheters and the clinicians who support their care, we saw an opportunity to build on established catheter technologies in ways that better reflect women’s lifestyle needs.

“Sharing those perspectives and drawing on those experiences across our organisation helped inform a design intended to fit naturally alongside the personal products women carry and use every day.”

HR HealthCare will offer the Liv Pre-lubricated Intermittent Catheter in sizes ranging from 8Fr to 14Fr, sold in boxes of 30 units.

The company specialises in medical technology development, manufacturing, and supply.
