ICICI Bank has made a contribution of Rs12bn to the India-based Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), for the establishment of cancer treatment facilities, reported The Times of India.

The agreement was signed by ICICI Foundation and TMC, in the presence of ICICI Bank chairman Girish Chandra Chaturvedi and executive director Sandeep Batra.

Allocated from the bank’s CSR funds, the amount will be used to establish the new facilities equipped with advanced technology at TMC centres in Maharashtra, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh.

An ICICI Radiation Oncology Block will be set up at TMC’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Maharashtra.

ICICI Paediatric and Haematological Oncology Blocks are to be set up in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

The facilities are expected to enhance cancer care services, provide access to advanced therapies in different regions of India, and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.

They are claimed to double the capacity for advanced oncology treatment and enable approximately 25,000 new patients to receive evidence-based therapies annually.

Construction of these new facilities is expected to be completed by 2027.

In addition, ICICI Bank inaugurated an MRI facility at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.

The initiative underscores the importance of delivering advanced cancer care closer to patients’ homes, ensuring timely and quality treatment at subsidised costs.
