Jefferson Health has signed a service agreement with Crozer Health to provide various neurological care services at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, US.

As part of this partnership, Jefferson Health specialists will deliver a range of neurological services, including neurosurgery and neurocritical care, at the Crozer-Chester campus.

This collaboration, which aims to enhance the region’s access to specialised neurological services, commenced on 15 January 2024.

In addition, this will allow Crozer-Chester Medical Center to access the latest innovations that will help treat neurological disorders and traumatic injuries related to the spine and brain.

The partnership with Crozer Health, a health system established in 1990, signifies a strategic move to extend Jefferson Health’s specialised services to a broader patient base.

Crozer Health was formed after the merger of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.

Crozer Health CEO Anthony Esposito said: “Jefferson Health is nationally recognised as a leader in neurosciences, and we’re excited to enter a strategic clinical partnership with them to provide our patients with state-of-the-art neurosciences care close to home.”

Jefferson Hospital for Neurosciences is claimed to be the only dedicated hospital for neuroscience in the Philadelphia area.

It serves around 6,000 patients annually, providing a full spectrum of care programmes, wellness approaches, and therapies to advance the treatment of neurological conditions.

Jefferson Health president Baligh Yehia said: “Jefferson Health is a major referral centre for stroke and critically ill neurology, and neurosurgery patients in the tri-state area, and our Neurocritical care program is one of largest in the country.

“This new relationship allows Jefferson Health to bring critical care to Crozer Health’s patients that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access.”

Last month, Jefferson Health entered a non-binding letter of intent with Lehigh Valley Health Network to combine their operations and establish an integrated care delivery system in Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
