US-based academic healthcare group Johns Hopkins Medicine has partnered with Caregility to implement the Caregility Cloud virtual care platform alongside a range of inpatient telehealth devices.

The partnership is part of Caregility’s Virtual Nursing programme rollout and care modernisation strategy.

It will facilitate remote engagement and collaboration at patients’ bedsides in four hospitals, comprising Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital.

Johns Hopkins Medicine plans to expand the partnership further this year, having selected Caregility for its inpatient virtual care initiative after an evaluation process.

The health system aims to increase employee retention and provide additional bedside support through the Virtual Nursing programme.

Caregility’s telehealth solutions will be integrated with Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Epic electronic medical record (EMR), streamlining the process for clinical staff to initiate and conduct virtual visits with patients as part of their existing workflows.

Virtual nurses will act as an extension of the bedside teams, assisting with routine care tasks such as admission assessments and discharge education.

Caregility CEO Ron Gaboury said: “We are honoured and excited to contribute to Johns Hopkins Medicine’s longstanding legacy of outstanding patient care.

“With the ability to support concurrent remote workflows, our telehealth devices will allow Johns Hopkins Medicine care teams to perform multiple virtual care tasks simultaneously, building on the health system’s tradition of pioneering innovative care models that advance healthcare delivery.”

Based in Maryland, Johns Hopkins Medicine combines the expertise of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with the extensive Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System network.

The health system includes a range of facilities, from academic and community hospitals to suburban healthcare and surgery centres, with more than 40 patient care locations.
