Kettering Health, a non-profit health system based in Ohio, US, has teamed up with AI clinical platform Regard to implement electronic health record (EHR)-based technology.

The new advanced EHR-based technology is being implemented at Kettering Health Hamilton, which is a community-focused healthcare facility in Butler County, Hamilton, Ohio.

This collaboration aims to reduce medical errors, enhance documentation quality, and improve financial outcomes in the healthcare system.

Regard said that its technology will help in minimising physicians’ burden, who often have less time to sift through extensive patient medical records.

The AI technology also provides a comprehensive view of a patient’s health on a single page, alerting physicians to potential diagnoses which is based on patient’s medical history, eventually easing the pressure on them.

It further addresses a significant challenge in health systems, which according to Regard is enabling physicians to manage patient care while handling administrative tasks.

The platform offered by Regard can securely review patients’ EHRs, curate information, and recommend diagnoses, which enhances patient safety and ensures that critical conditions, such as sepsis, atrial fibrillation or other chronic conditions, are spotted on time.

Additionally, the technology is said to ensure medication accuracy, preventing errors such as unintended discontinuation or double dosing of prescriptions.

Besides, Regard highlighted that it recently reached a milestone, with over two million patient diagnoses since its inception, demonstrating its capability to streamline EHR navigation and identify diagnoses that might be overlooked.

Regard co-founder and chief operating officer Nate Wilson said: “We are thrilled to partner with Kettering Health Hamilton to help them meaningfully leverage our technology while working to empower the physicians within the hospital and improve patient care.

“Over the next several years, we can’t wait to see the significant impact this partnership will bring to the physicians and patients of Kettering Health Hamilton.”

In May 2023, Kettering Health and PAM Health announced plans to launch a 62-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
