Kootenai Health and MultiCare Health System are set to develop the new Prairie Medical Campus in Post Falls, Idaho, US, aimed at improving access to healthcare services in the region.
Development on the multi-phase, 30-acre site is set to begin this year. Phase one will feature a micro-hospital with a 12-room emergency department, imaging services, and overnight patient facilities, and a multi-storey medical office building.
An advanced imaging centre equipped with CT scanners, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray machines will also be part of the facility.
The initial phase of the Prairie Medical Campus is projected to take 24 to 36 months to complete.
The accompanying medical office building will initially house a new ambulatory surgery centre, lab services, clinic offices, and more.
It will have space for Kootenai Clinic and independent physicians, supporting the growth of primary care and specialist services.
The project is expected to attract new healthcare providers to the area and become a hub for patient care.
Kootenai Health CEO Jamie Smith said: “The Prairie Medical Campus in Post Falls is a transformational investment in the future of our region’s health care.”
Parkwood Business Properties is collaborating with Kootenai Health and MultiCare Health System as the project’s development partner.
With the capacity for future expansion, plans for the campus include the development of a full-service hospital to meet the needs of the rapidly growing population in Kootenai and eastern Spokane counties, which is expected to double in the next two decades.
Kootenai Health will manage the Prairie Medical Campus, retaining operational control and primary branding.
Both Kootenai Health and MultiCare Health System will continue as independent, non-profit, community-based providers of healthcare.
In July 2024, Atlas Healthcare Partners formed a joint venture with MultiCare Health System to enhance the availability of cost-effective surgical services in the Pacific Northwest region.
