Lehigh Valley Health Network has commenced construction on a new neighbourhood hospital in Gilbertsville, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, US.
This facility is said to be the health system’s first hospital in Montgomery County.
Named Lehigh Valley Hospital – Gilbertsville, the hospital is expected to open in late 2024 and will offer a full-service emergency room and a limited number of inpatient beds.
It is intended to reduce emergency room wait times and improve inpatient care times for patients from admission to discharge.
Spanning about 22,000ft², the new hospital will provide acute care around the clock, along with lab, imaging, and pharmacy services, reported LehighValleyNews.com.
Patients requiring more extensive care or surgery will be transferred to other LVHN facilities.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, a medical office building, called the Health Center at Gilbertsville, will be built on the same site, covering 57,000ft².
It will house various medical services, including primary care, lab medicine, and specialities such as orthopaedics, cardiology, and rehabilitation.
This expansion is part of LVHN’s effort to provide residents with more accessible healthcare services closer to their homes and workplaces.
The Lower Macungie and Gilbertsville hospitals will become LVHN’s 14th and 15th hospitals, respectively.
The network currently operates 13 hospital campuses in different Pennsylvania locations.
LVHN president and CEO Dr Brian A Nester said: “LVH–Gilbertsville and the Health Center at Gilbertsville will give residents more convenient access to emergency and hospital-level care, along with robust ambulatory services located closer to where they live, work and play.
“Easy access can improve patient engagement and help individuals live their healthiest life.”
