Abu Dhabi-based company M42 has collaborated with the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London, UK to bolster paediatric critical and complex care in Middle East.

GOSH, a part of the National Health Service (NHS), specialises in providing treatment for children with rare and complex conditions.

The latest multifaceted partnership between GOSH and M42 initially aims to focus on enhancing capabilities at M42’s Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The collaboration will see the organisations providing support for children with complex medical needs through educational programmes.

It also plans to expand into genomics and research to advance cell and gene therapy.

Danat Al Emarat Hospital will benefit from the collaboration by improving its patient care, particularly in its Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

The partnership will introduce a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) approach, a second opinion framework, and a visiting consultant programme, all aimed at elevating the quality of paediatric and neonatal critical care.

It will also focus on upskilling clinical teams at Danat Al Emarat Hospital, with GOSH providing expert clinical training programmes. This includes participation in GOSH Grand Rounding, promoting shared learning and continuous education for healthcare professionals.

The relationship between GOSH and the UAE is strengthened by the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children, which opened in 2019.

Further, the partnership will explore research and innovation projects, including machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, like M42’s generative AI language model, Med42.

All these efforts are in line with M42’s role in facilitating the Emirati Genome Program in the UAE.

M42 group chief operating officer Ashish Koshy said: “By combining GOSH’s world-class solutions with M42’s innovative health solutions, we are positioning ourselves to really make a difference. Further strengthening M42’s clinical operations, and reshaping excellence for children’s health.”
