McLaren Greater Lansing, part of the McLaren Health Care network, has unveiled plans to build a new ambulatory care campus in Grand Ledge, Michigan, US.

The project, which is estimated to be built at a cost of approximately $40m, is set to provide the community with improved access to a range of healthcare services.

Situated along Saginaw Highway, west of Nixon Road, the ground-breaking for the construction is scheduled to take place later this year.

This development will be centred around a freestanding emergency department and will include additional clinical space to cater to commonly used and in-demand health services.

Construction work on the campus is expected to be completed in one year, with the facility scheduled to start welcoming patients in late 2025.

McLaren Greater Lansing highlighted that the planned 33,680ft² building will allocate 8,500ft² to the emergency department, facilitating community access to family medicine, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and other speciality services.

The 17-room emergency department will be staffed by a team of emergency physicians and care teams.

Additionally, the family medicine office is designed to accommodate up to five primary care providers.

The current plan will further ensure the availability of various on-campus services, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT fixed units, with provisions for mobile units to bring in additional imaging capacity and procedures.

Besides, the campus will feature office space for a rotating staff of specialists, including neurologists, cardiologists, and surgical consultants.

McLaren Greater Lansing president and CEO Kirk Ray said: “With this development in Grand Ledge, those residents will now have a level of care located in their community that it had never had before, along with several other services to bolster its overall well-being. This is a community we are thrilled to serve, and we are proud to be in the position to do so.”

McLaren Greater Lansing is a tertiary teaching facility, which has 240 acute care beds and offers various services, including cardiac programmes, a Level III Trauma Center/Emergency Department, medical/surgical units, and women and children’s health services.
