Medsphere Systems, a provider of interoperable healthcare information technology (IT) solutions, has purchased Texas-based HealthLine Solutions for undisclosed amount.
HealthLine has over two decades of experience in developing applications, which help hospitals to manage their supply chain inventory.
HealthLine’s applications make use of bar coding and RFID technology, intuitive user interfaces and systems integration.
Due to integration and automated tracking, HealthLine can offer additional supply chain reporting support for specialised clinical functions such as interventional medicine and surgery.
HealthLine applications are claimed to boost the RCM Cloud revenue cycle management aspect of the total CareVue EHR solution.
Medsphere president and CEO Irv Lichtenwald said: “HealthLine applications empower hospitals to increase revenue and lower labor costs while having complete confidence in inventory data, which is why we’re excited about this strategic acquisition.
“With the addition of supply chain management functionality, the CareVue solution overall, and the RCM component specifically, offer a unique combination of comprehensive and affordable functionality that no other healthcare IT provider has chosen to match.”
Although purchasing, receiving and inventory aspects of the supply chain are similar across several industries, healthcare industry faces different challenges given that inventories are maintained in disparate locations such as nursing stations and operating rooms.
Furthermore, as HealthLine’s solutions can navigate the healthcare environment, it can serve as a valuable addition to the CareVue EHR platform, claimed Medsphere.
Following the acquisition of HealthLine and other recent purchases, Medsphere currently provides platforms that meet clinical, revenue cycle and inventory management requirements of inpatient acute and behavioural health facilities.
Medsphere provides both CareVue Cloud and RCM Cloud options for those firms that plan to shift away from onsite data centres.
