Newport Hospital, a part of Lifespan health care system in Rhode Island, has deployed Ascom’s mobility communications solution that sends nurse call alerts directly to clinicians’ mobile devices, which will ultimately help to streamline and improve team collaboration and workflows.
Ascom’s installation at the hospital completed in November.
The communication solutions deployed by the hospital include Ascom Myco 2 smart devices and Unite software integration.
Ascom North America president Rob Goldman said: “We have already worked with Miriam Hospital, a sister facility in the Lifespan health care system, and now look forward to also helping Newport Hospital realize their vision of full mobile integration with their EMR application so their busy clinicians get timely access to critical patient information.”
Besides Unite Connect software for the nurse call integration with mobility, Newport Hospital also chose Unite Analyze.
Unite Analyze is an application that offers reporting and administrative tools. This enables in measuring call volumes and response times, besides illustrating call trends, and indicating staff efficiency.
A smart handset developed for healthcare sector, Ascom Myco 2 is Android-based and serves as a critical tool to connect clinicians with patients, to each other and to clinical information systems such as EMRs and labs.
Intended to address workflow inefficiencies identified by nurses so that they can multi-task, the Ascom Myco 2 mobilises information and connects them irrespective of where they are within the hospital.
