BryanLGH Medical Center in the US has deployed the Pharmacy Xpert clinical surveillance and intervention solution from Thomson Reuters to improve medication management.
BryanLGH will implement Pharmacy Xpert in Siemens’s Sorian hospital information system, which aggregates clinical data from patient admissions, pharmacy orders, laboratory results, vitals and various transcribed reporting systems.
Pharmacy Xpert, a clinical intelligence dashboard, is a part of the Clinical Xpert Suite of workflow solutions.
The clinical solution will monitor patient specific data from multiple sources, including medication lists and dosages, transcribed reports, vital signs, lab results, I&Os and demographics.
The patient specific data, which is then delivered to the pharmacist on a single screen, will allow for proactive care management.
The solution will offer prebuilt clinical profiles that deliver the drug, disease and toxicology content in the Micromedex evidence-based clinical decision support solution.
BryanLGH clinical pharmacy manager Jeff Weber said Pharmacy Xpert provides the flexibility for the facility to create its own patient profiles and criteria for alerts.
"We selected Pharmacy Xpert because our pharmacists need to be able to act quickly and accurately when time is of the essence. Pharmacy Xpert delivers this level of certainty," Weber said.
"Pharmacy Xpert eliminates the need for redundant manual patient data searches and alerting us to critical events such as patients at high risk for adverse reactions or patients who are good candidates for intervention."
