The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) in the US has selected Availity, a real-time health information network, as the preferred patient access vendor for its 53 member hospitals.
Availity was selected as ICAHN member hospitals expressed a need to improve upfront collections and patient satisfaction, a critical service as the popularity of high-deductible health plans grows.
Availity Patient Access will help ICAHN’s member hospitals obtain accurate information about their patients’ financial responsibility before their visit.
It will also help secure insight into each patient’s ability to pay what they owe, provide payment options, as well as improve consistency of communication with patients about their payment obligations.
ICAHN Business Services and Development director Curt Zimmerman said: "The functionality and ease of use of Availity’s Patient Access made it an ideal and affordable solution for small, rural hospitals.
"The ability of our member hospitals to provide patients with an accurate estimate of cost for services prior to the point of care will improve patient satisfaction and increase upfront collections."
ICAHN is comprised of small and rural critical access hospitals (CAH) across Illinois, and includes more than 10,000 employees, 1,250 hospital beds and combined gross patient revenues of $2.1bn.
ICAHN is a not-for-profit 501(c) corporation established to promote efficiency and best practice and improve healthcare services.
As a HITRUST-certified healthcare information technology firm, Availity integrates and manages the clinical, administrative and financial data needed for real-time co-ordination between providers, health plans and patients in a value-based care environment.
