US-based Wesley Medical Centre has selected JE Dunn Construction to build a new children’s hospital, which will involve an investment of $28m.
Located in Wichita, Kansas, Wesley is an acute-care centre licensed for 760 beds and 102 bassinets.
The project, which was first announced in February, will include a new facade on the hospital’s hillside exterior with a renovated entrance, lobby and elevators.
The expansion project will also comprise a complete renovation of the paediatric intensive care unit, including development of a new 15-bed PICU.
Wesley’s 30-bed paediatric unit will also be upgraded with new aesthetic, heating and cooling systems. Construction on the project is expected to be completed between 12 and 18 months, according to Wesley.
Wesley paediatric operations and business development vice-president Tripp Owings said: "The improvements to our facility will make the patient experience for children a much more pleasant and comforting one.
