MedStar Health, a not-for-profit health system in Maryland and the Washington, DC region, has selected Kyruus, a US-based provider of patient access and referral management solutions, to build seamless patient access experience.
Under the deal, Kyruus’ ProviderMatch suite of products will be used to optimise how patients access and engage with the system’s providers.
MedStar has 30,000 associates, 6,000 affiliated physicians, ten hospitals, ambulatory care and urgent care centres.
The deal will see MedStar use Kyruus’ provider data management and smart scheduling platform across several points of access, including the call center and its consumer-facing web properties, to generate consistency in the ‘front door experience’ and ensure accurate referrals no matter where patients enter the system.
MedStar vice-president and chief digital officer Michael Ruiz said: "The need to provide a unified and coordinated patient experience is critical for health systems that wish to engage effectively with the populations they serve.
"Kyruus’ ability to consolidate and enrich our provider data provides the foundation to build the front-end applications that our schedulers and patients can use to quickly and accurately find a provider who is the best match for a patient’s specific needs.

As part of the deal, an Innovation Council comprised of leadership from both organisations has been created to jointly work on product and implementation strategies.
