Medline, a US-based manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies, has received an exclusive distribution partnership with OSF HealthCare in a $250m prime vendor deal.

OSF’s network includes 11 acute care facilities and two colleges of nursing, while it also has a primary care physician network consisting of more than 600 primary care, specialist physicians, and advanced practise providers.

Under the five-year deal, Medline will provide OSF entities with an extensive portfolio of essential medical supplies and solutions that will better position the system to streamline supply chain operations and manage costs.

Medline was selected for supply chain expertise, its 350,000 products, and personalised customer service.

The deal will see OSF use Medline’s online reporting tool called Medline INSIGHT to easily monitor key metrics such as item utilisation, contract compliance, price accuracy and spend by product categories.

Both parties have been in collaboration for a year and OSF started purchasing Medline manufactured products and later signed agreements with the company to service their physician offices and home care services.
