Real estate firm Thomas Partners Properties is planning to develop a $200m wellness village, The Oasis, in Los Angeles county, California, to provide health services in combination with hospitality.
Scheduled to break ground in June 2016, the 420,000ft² concept will have multiple districts for healthcare and wellness.
In addition to a 157-bed primary care centre, the facility will provide imaging services, ambulatory care, a wellness centre, and outpatient surgery.
Retail and dining space, a public pavilion, parking and circulation amenities, a park, pedestrian areas, signage, decor and landscaping will form part of the 17.5 acre project.
Thomas Partners Properties president John Thomas said: "This is the future of healthcare in America. The Oasis Wellness Village brings together the world’s finest physicians with everything from imaging and physical therapy to yoga and farmers markets, a true integration of health and wellness."
"The Oasis form and function platform is intended to provide much needed community services and amenities, which will help everyone from babies to boomers stay well and receive the best care possible."
To be developed adjacent to Palmdale Regional Medical Center, The Oasis plans to work in collaboration with the hospital.
City of Palmdale mayor Jim Ledford said: "The Oasis Wellness Village is a true healthcare success story. We have a healthcare crisis in the Antelope Valley, and The Oasis is turning that crisis into an opportunity to promote better health and better healthcare for everyone."
The project has been designed by HKS Architects.
