Mediclinic Southern Africa, a South African private hospital, has demonstrated a positive reduction of hospital acquired infections (HAI) at its hospitals, following the installation of ICNet, designed to prevent and control infections.

ICNet, an automated surveillance system, enables infection prevention and control practitioners to follow up patients with resistant organisms.

The system integrates all microbiology results and patient information into one real-time system, which can be accessed by the clinical risk manager.

Mediclinic Southern Africa infection prevention and control specialist Briette du Toit said ICNet enabled them to monitor trends and alert organisms and assist with potential outbreaks at its hospitals.
