A subsidiary of US-based Tenet Healthcare has acquired a majority stake in Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas.
With this latest acquisition, the company now has a 70-bed hospital in Dallas in addition to three other hospitals in the area – Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett, Doctors Hospital of White Rock Lake and Centennial Medical Center in Frisco – plus 12 outpatient centres.
Physician owners continue to retain a minority interest in Texas Regional Medical Center.
Tenet president and CEO Trevor Fetter said: "We are pleased to add Texas Regional Medical Center to our network and look forward to working with the team of loyal and high-quality medical staff to bring additional services and investment to residents in the area."
Texas Regional Medical Center CEO Stephen Garrison said that the facility is a natural fit within Tenet’s network of health services in the east Dallas area.
"We are excited to join the talented physicians, nurses and staff of Tenet Healthcare," Garrison added.
Texas Regional Medical Center features a cardiovascular centre, spine programme, obstetrics programme and neonatal intensive care unit, a surgical weight loss programme and an emergency department.
Tenet operates 78 hospitals, 189 outpatient centres and Conifer Health Solutions, a provider of business process solutions to healthcare providers.
