Estes Park Medical Center (EPMC), a 25-bed critical access hospital in Colorado, US, has implemented an emergency department information system (EDIS) to streamline its workflows and overall ED processes.

Designed by MEDHOST, the EDIS system offers features including on-site customisation, built-in risk mitigation and ePrescribe capabilities.

With the implementation of the system, EPMC expects more immediate enhancements to its ED clinical and operational processes.

The EDIS system will also enable the hospital to better manage the inflow of patients during the summer when the ED has its highest patient volumes.

EPMC emergency department physician Dr. Christopher Daley said that MEDHOST provided guidance that enabled ED staff to establish better clinical workflow and processes right from the start.

"This support, combined with the usability and flexibility of the solution, will play a key role in helping us continually create efficiencies and enhance the care we provide," Daley added.

MEDHOST president Craig Herrod said that EPMC’s entire ED team worked with MEDHOST from the implementation process to training and beyond.

"The hospital’s involvement says a lot about its commitment to leveraging technology as part of its overall goal of providing the best care available," Herrod added.
