Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has acquired a site for the new Glendenning Ambulance Station, aiming to enhance frontline emergency care in Glendenning, Doonside, and adjacent suburbs.

This ambulance station will support local paramedics in delivering emergency and mobile medical care.

The project’s next steps involve advancing design development and moving forward with the planning approval process.

Timelines for construction and operation will be established as the project advances.

NSW health minister Ryan Park said: “The purchase of this site marks a significant milestone in delivering a vital health service for growing communities in Glendenning, Doonside and surrounding suburbs.

“The new Glendenning Ambulance Station will support local paramedics to provide the best emergency and mobile medical care well into the future.”

The ambulance station is a key component of the government’s A$615.5m ($386.31m) NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program.

The programme plans to construct 30 new ambulance stations, along with providing necessary support infrastructure in the Central Coast, Sydney, the Hunter, Newcastle and Wollongong over the next few years.

NSW Ambulance used advanced modelling software to map Triple Zero (000) calls and identified Glendenning as a high-priority location for the new station.

Collaborating with NSW Ambulance and other government entities, Health Infrastructure will identify potential sites for future stations, with locations confirmed for South Windsor, North Sydney, Berowra, Oran Park, Prestons, Moss Vale, Bargo, Lisarow, and now Glendenning.

The government is also recruiting 2,500 additional ambulance staff, which includes 500 paramedics dedicated to rural and regional areas.

Blacktown member Stephen Bali said: “The new Glendenning Ambulance Station will bolster emergency care for the Western Sydney community and provide a first-class facility for NSW Ambulance paramedics.

“The new ambulance station will improve ambulance network coverage and support existing stations and paramedic teams including the ambulance station at Blacktown.”
