The state Government of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has announced reaching a new construction milestone for the A$30m ($20.32m) Wentworth Health Service Redevelopment project.
The government confirmed that the hospital’s concrete slab has now been poured.
For the foundation of the new hospital, over 40 trucks delivered around 340m³ of concrete.
In addition, more than 18,000t of material, transported in more than 500 truckloads, has been used to create the foundation for the new hospital, including its surrounding landscape and parking area for cars.
This milestone comes several months after the NSW government announced the beginning of construction on the new Wentworth Health Service in November 2023.
Once completed, the facility will feature a modern inpatient unit with a total of 19 beds, an Urgent Care Centre, as well as various community health services.

By GlobalDataThe new hospital, being constructed on the site of the current facility, which has been in operation for over eight decades, is planned to be elevated above the existing flood levee.
All inpatient rooms are designed to offer views of the Darling River in Wentworth.
As the major construction continues, the existing hospital remains fully operational. All these efforts are being made to minimise disruption for patients, staff, and visitors.
The redevelopment will also feature a cultural element at the hospital’s entrance, including a display wall with artwork by local school children and a historical exhibit highlighting the hospital’s heritage.
The Wentworth Health Service Redevelopment is anticipated to be completed by next year.
NSW Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said: “It is exciting to see the footprint of the new hospital building with the concrete slab pour complete, and I look forward to seeing the redevelopment continue to take shape as works progress.
“The Wentworth Health Service redevelopment will provide the community and our dedicated health staff access to a modern and fit-for-purpose health facility.
“Our rural and regional communities deserve health facilities that meet their health needs now and into the future, and Wentworth is no exception.”
