NYU Langone Health has opened a new five-storey multi-speciality facility in Cobble Hill of Brooklyn, New York, US.

Named Joseph S and Diane H Steinberg Ambulatory Care Center, the facility offers comprehensive healthcare services in an off-campus setting.

The 165,000ft², five-floor building includes a 24-hour emergency department and offers specialised cancer care and outpatient surgeries.

The physician practice at 70 Atlantic Avenue boasts 19 medical and surgical specialities.

This facility in the former location of Long Island College Hospital has an infusion centre and offers radiology and imaging services.

The ambulatory care centre expands Brooklyn’s health system that includes NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn and more than 65 practices across the borough, with all being linked by an electronic health record system, the NYU Langone Health app, and the NYU Langone Health MyChart patient portal.

The new emergency department has two overnight hospital beds, 27 open treatment beds and bays, including two triage rooms and five negative pressure treatment rooms.

It offers bedside tablets to help patient communication, education, and entertainment.

The Perlmutter Cancer Center at the ambulatory centre offers medical appointments and chemotherapy in a single location.

This on-site infusion centre has 14 infusion bays and can treat patients with multiple sclerosis and rheumatology-related and gastroenterology-related problems.

NYU Langone Health executive vice-president and vice-dean for clinical affairs and strategy chief clinical officer Andrew W Brotman said: “The Joseph S and Diane H Steinberg Ambulatory Care Center greatly enhances the breadth and depth of high-quality care NYU Langone offers right here in the community.

“This clinical hub will be transformational for the neighbourhood, allowing us to offer our top-ranked care and the best outcomes to more than 200,000 patients a year.”

Meanwhile, the Red Hook Family Health Center at NYU Langone is scheduled to open later this year. It will provide primary care, dental care, obstetrics and gynaecology, behavioural health services, and family support services.
