Oceans Healthcare has revealed plans to expand its behavioral health services offering in Texas by constructing a new 48-bed hospital in Waco.

To be located near located near Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center, the new facility will employ nearly 90 people in clinical and non-clinical roles.

To be known as Oceans Behavioral Hospital Waco, the facility will provide both inpatient and outpatient treatment for adults more than 50 years of age.

The hospital will render care to patients suffering depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders associated with early-stage Alzheimer’s or dementia, and other behavioral health issues.

Oceans Healthcare CEO Stuart Archer said: “Our company has made a commitment to expand mental health treatment access and education in communities across Texas.

“We are grateful for the opportunity now to share that commitment with the residents of McLennan County and look forward to many years serving as a trusted health care resource.”

Oceans Healthcare operates a network of 16 behavioral health care hospitals across Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana. The proposed facility in Waco would be the company’s eighth hospital in Texas.

The company’s other seven hospitals in Texas are located in Lufkin, Katy, Abilene, Midland, Pasadena and Longview.

According to kxxv.com, groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospital will held at on 21 March 21. The ceremony is expected to be joined by local city officials.

Nationwide, Texas ranks 43rd   for insufficient access to care despite the fact that the health report released in 2016 confirmed that 10% of residents of the state are living with patients with diagnosed behavioral health issues.
