Oracle has announced that its electronic health records (EHR) system is now fully operational across all garrison facilities of the US Department of Defense (DoD) located across the globe.
The latest milestone follows the successful implementation of the EHR system at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (Lovell FHCC) in Chicago, US.
At present, Oracle’s Federal EHR, which is also referred as the “MHS GENESIS system”, is supporting a total of 3,890 locations, with more than 197,200 end-users serving nearly 9.5 million beneficiaries across the US, Europe, as well as the Asia Pacific region.
This extensive roll-out of Federal EHR system was carried out in partnership with the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health.
According to Oracle, the Lovell FHCC’s transition to the new system is particularly noteworthy as it is the first joint DoD and Veterans Affairs site to become operational simultaneously.
Oracle said that its EHR system is designed to improve care team coordination and patient experiences by providing a unified, comprehensive health record for each patient, regardless of their location.

Furthermore, the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s US Coast Guard (USCG) have implemented the Federal EHR by Oracle.
Plans are currently in place for additional federal agencies to adopt the system later this year, further expanding Oracle EHR’s reach across federal healthcare services.
Oracle Health and Life Sciences executive vice-president and general manager Seema Verma said: “Oracle is a global leader in EHR systems, supporting organisations ranging from rural hospitals to the complex and diverse operating environments of our government agencies.
