Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has revealed the master plan for the new A$20m ($13.17m) Batemans Bay Community Health Service.

This plan outlines the redevelopment of existing land at Batemans Bay Hospital on Pacific Street in NSW, aiming to provide enhanced healthcare facilities for local residents.

Land for Batemans Bay Community Health Service was allocated by the NSW Government in November 2023.

Batemans Bay Community Health Service will offer various services, including women’s and sexual health, allied health, Aboriginal health, community mental health, drug and alcohol, child, youth and family services.

It will also provide primary healthcare services, including community nursing, wound management and palliative care.

According to NSW Regional Health Minister Ryan Park, the location of the new facility has been chosen to ensure the proper delivery of modern and integrated healthcare services to the community.

Park said: “Batemans Bay Community Health master plan is an exciting step forward in our commitment to strengthen health services across NSW south coast, which will provide the community with access to tailored healthcare in the right setting.

“The new community health service will be located close to the recently opened Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, providing easy access between the two services.”

He also highlighted that establishing Batemans Bay Community Health will not impact the services and operations of the Batemans Bay Hospital, as it will continue to provide healthcare services for the community.

Meanwhile, the community will get additional support from the new Batemans Bay Community Health and the A$260m Eurobodalla Regional Hospital being constructed in the region.

The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will mean more patients can be treated closer to home at a higher level of service, reducing the need to travel out of the area for care.

NSW Regional Health parliamentary secretary Dr Michael Holland said: “We are now encouraging the Batemans Bay community to view the latest plans and provide their feedback via our online survey or attend a drop-in session to help shape the new facility as planning and design continues in 2024.”
