Providence Mission Hospital has received a $50m donation from Rancho Mission Viejo, earmarked for the hospital’s expansion project at its Mission Viejo campus in California, US, in several phases.
The funds will play a crucial role in several aspects of the hospital’s growth, including the construction of the new Rancho Mission Viejo Family Tower, anticipated to open in 2030.
Providence Mission Hospital chief executive Seth Teigen said: “We are truly humbled by the generosity of the Rancho Mission Viejo family and the $50m investment they have made toward the future of health care for the residents in Orange County and beyond.”
This new structure is set to transform the campus layout and will feature 100 private patient rooms, spanning intensive care, medical/surgical, and acute rehabilitation units.
It will also house a cardiology department, complete with cardiac catheterisation and electrophysiology suites.
Moreover, the expansion encompasses new procedural suites and surgical operating rooms, including the campus’ inaugural hybrid operating room.
Additionally, the project will enhance radiology and clinical laboratory services, supporting the emergency department, Level II trauma centre for paediatric and adult patients, and acute care operations.
The investment facilitated by this donation will also enable the hospital to adopt non-invasive treatment technologies and attract specialists to provide academic-level care in a community hospital setting.
The hospital’s continuum of primary, urgent and emergency care will be enriched, including radiology and specialty services expansion at the upcoming Rancho Mission Viejo and San Clemente Mission Health Center outpatient clinics.
Rancho Mission Viejo has a longstanding relationship with Providence Mission Hospital, having donated the land on which the hospital stands, back in 1969.
Rancho Mission Viejo president Jeremy Laster said: “Our family and company are honoured and humbled to play a small part in the important expansion of Providence Mission Hospital.”
In September 2022, Providence Mission Hospital announced plans to make a $712m investment in southern Orange County, California, for the construction of two new multi-speciality medical centres, and a new patient care tower.
