Australia-based Richard Crookes Constructions has been selected to deliver the A$53m Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment project in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

The project is proposed by Health Infrastructure, in partnership with Hunter New England Health District. It aims to provide enhanced healthcare facilities for the Hunter New England community.

NSW Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said: “This is an exciting milestone for the redevelopment which will deliver enhanced healthcare services and facilities for the Gunnedah community.

“All hospital services will continue to operate onsite during construction, which follows significant planning and design work by the project team, in collaboration with staff, stakeholders and the community.

“It’s great to hear the construction team will be on site from later this month to commence early works which will include the establishment of some temporary service locations.”

The redevelopment project involves the construction of a new acute services building, which will comprise an expanded emergency department and a modern birthing, maternity and inpatient unit.

Construction of main works is planned to start in early 2024 with completion scheduled in late 2025.

Recently, the Government of New South Wales announced a topping-out ceremony for the Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment project.

The project involves an improved emergency department, two new operating theatres and a procedure room, as well as separate emergency department and hospital reception entrances.
