Multinational health business group Sanitas, in collaboration with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield New Jersey, plans to open a network of medical centres in New Jersey as part of its strategy to capture the Hispanic customers.
According to the US census data, Hispanics are the largest minority group in New Jersey and the number is expected to increase. Union City and other communities within Hudson County house one of the highest concentrations of Hispanics.
Under the plan, Sanitashas opened its new medical centre–Sanitas Medical Center –in Union City in New Jersey, US.
Located at 3196 Kennedy Blvd., the new healthcare centre will address patients’ everyday health care needs in one location.
Sanitas CEO Fernando Fonseca said: “We have selected a great medical team of local doctors, nurses and staff, and we’re thrilled to start caring for the community of Union City.
“Our approach to care is cantered on our patients and their families, giving them more time with their doctor and the convenience of a one-stop medical centre for their everyday health care needs.
“Our expansion in New Jersey will continue to build upon our success in Florida and Connecticut as well as over 40 years of experience providing quality care to over 3 million people in South America.”
The Sanitas Medical Center will start accepting appointments in January 2018 with a focus on health disparities often suffered within the Hispanic population.
In order to meet the growing demand of the healthcare needs, the company is set to open two more Sanitas Medical Centers in Belleville and Jersey City in early 2018.
Independently owned and operated by Sanitas, the medical centres will offer family primary care services, complete urgent care, laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, besides educational programmes in wellness and disease management.
Horizon BCBSNJ executive vice president and chief operating officerKevin Conlin said: “Our goal is to be there for people in the Latino community where they live and work in every corner of New Jersey. The Sanitas Medical Centers will be vital by providing access to much needed medical care as an alternative to the emergency room setting.
“Through grassroots marketing, a culturally-sensitive approach and intensive person-to-person outreach Horizon has had great success in helping the Hispanic consumer. We remain committed to serving the Hispanic members who hold individual insurance.”
