St Luke’s University Health Network has opened the new St Luke’s Children’s Hospital at its Bethlehem Campus, located in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, US.

St Luke’s initially launched the Baby & Me Support Center in 2017 to provide comprehensive baby-related education and counselling from one location.

In 2020, a $5m, eight-bed paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), which offers advanced care to critically ill children, was added to the St Luke’s Bethlehem Campus.

Last year, St Luke’s became a Children’s Hospital Association member, with the St Luke’s Pediatric Specialty Center opening in May the same year.

The paediatric centre is claimed to be the first and only free-standing facility in the region that is completely dedicated to children. It also allows families to coordinate several speciality appointments at a single location.

St Luke’s later refurbished its 17-bed paediatric inpatient unit.

St Luke’s president and CEO Richard Anderson said: “St Luke’s is the first established hospital in the Lehigh Valley and has been caring for children for the 150 years since its founding in 1872.

“This new children’s hospital designation recognises the incredible depth of paediatric expertise developed across our network over its long and storied history, including an array of speciality services added in recent years.”

The hospital also offers paediatric speciality labs and a paediatric dialysis centre.

St Luke’s University Health Network Pediatrics chair Jennifer Janco said: “St Luke’s is committed to ensuring that parents enjoy access to St Luke’s personalised and high-quality care, from pregnancy through all stages of their children’s development.”
