Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has announced the deployment of an Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) from Palantir Technologies, aimed at advancing care coordination.

This move is set to encode the hospital’s domain expertise, improve real-time situational awareness, and integrate large-language models into decision-support tools. These enhancements will support frontline teams in eligibility and prioritisation workflows across all care operations.

The AIP will also automate various system workflows at TGH, including the streamlining of revenue cycle management.

By encoding clinical expertise into frontline decision-making processes, Tampa General aims to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.

The Hospital Sync application suite, powered by Palantir’s software, is expected to become a benchmark for care coordination across the US.

Tampa General Hospital CEO and president John Couris said: “We are on a mission to transform health care through innovation, and Palantir’s technology platforms enable us to leverage data to improve quality and strengthen our operations.

“Less time waiting for placement and a reduced length of stay does not just enhance the patient experience, it gives us an opportunity to treat more patients that need care. These improvements, powered by data and technology, contribute to better and more robust treatment plans, which in turn, can lead to better patient outcomes.”

Palantir Technologies CEO and co-founder Alex Karp said: “Our partnership is proving that software is vital for overcoming many of the most pressing healthcare challenges that we collectively face.

“Tampa General has become an industry leader in leveraging technology to deliver even further improvements in patient care.”

Tampa General and Palantir first collaborated in 2021, with the implementation of Palantir’s Foundry software to transform health care management and patient outcomes. Since then, TGH has broadened its use of Palantir’s solutions, leading to significant improvements in patient care, such as an 83% reduction in patient placement times and a 28% decrease in post-anesthesia care unit holds.

Moreover, the mean length of stay for sepsis patients at Tampa General has been reduced by 30%.

Palantir’s engineers will maintain a close working relationship with Tampa General’s teams to further this next phase of their partnership.

Additionally, Palantir is set to join the Tampa Medical and Research District, a hub for health care organisations, enhancing the medical landscape of Tampa Bay.

Last month, TGH announced its plans to deploy GE’s imaging and ultrasound solutions in Florida.
