US-based healthcare system Tanner Health is deploying the Abridge AI platform for clinical conversations across its network.
Following a successful pilot, the platform will be used for multiple care settings, specialities and languages to ‘transform’ behavioural health practice.
Tanner Health offers personalised care to communities across East Alabama and West Georgia, operating five hospitals and a multi-speciality physician group.
The health system said its clinicians chose Abridge because of its note quality.
Tanner Health chief medical information officer Bonnie Boles said: “The impact of Abridge on clinicians has been even better than I expected.
“A busy primary care doctor reported that this is the first time in 30 years she is finishing her notes by the end of clinic.

Abridge’s AI platform is designed to detect care settings automatically and generate appropriate clinical documentation, even in complex environments with multiple people speaking.
Tanner Health found that Abridge worked well for behavioural health clinicians, aiding them in creating deeper connections with patients.
Tanner Health vice-president and executive medical director Kenneth Genova said: “In psychiatry in particular, we want to be very present with our patients.
“With Abridge, all of the note-taking is handled, so the time to create documentation is markedly less and the cognitive burden is virtually negligible.
“Our productivity is up and we have people saying it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to them in their practice.”
The Abridge AI platform is currently in use across numerous healthcare systems in the US, including Mayo Clinic, Duke Health and Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Last year, Abridge raised $150m in a Series C financing round, with technology company NVIDIA among the contributors.
