Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Foundation in the US has announced the establishment of a new Center of Excellence in Colorectal Cancer, funded by a significant donation from philanthropists John and Susan Sykes.
The TGH Foundation has not disclosed the financial specifics of the secured funding.
The new centre, to be named in honour of John and Susan Sykes, will enhance patient care, education, and research efforts at TGH and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine’s Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
In addition, the Susan and John Sykes Center of Excellence in Colorectal Cancer at the TGH Cancer Institute aims to provide top-tier care in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancers.
Under the guidance of Marcet, a professor at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Medical Director of Colorectal Surgery Services at TGH, the centre is poised to be a leader in the field.
According to TGH, Marcet’s team is dedicated to advancing translational research and bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications.
