Global digital health innovator The Clinician and Northern Health have collaborated to develop a new patient registration and intake platform.
The new digital health platform (ZEDOC) will be developed as part of the expansion of the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) statewide.
It has been designed to offer a streamlined digital patient intake solution and clinical tracking dashboard to the VVED for timely access to virtual emergency care.
Using the new ZEDOC solution, patients can gain access to non-critical emergency care on their devices.
The digital health innovator has been working with Northern Health for replacing the original intake technology of VVED with an improved digital front door solution.
The VVED staff can access intake results immediately for triage and follow up patients through video call using the new ZEDOC’s tracking dashboard.

The Clinician and Northern Health have added important features like SMS verification, a registration form that is available in 22 different languages, a streamlined integration with HealthDirect’s telehealth service and automated clinical tracking.
The Clinician chief commercial officer and co-founder Tamaryn Hankinson said: “Everyone can relate to the challenges of busy, in-person emergency departments, so our team is proud to be supporting Northern Health’s VVED and enabling patients to access high quality care from home.
“We see this as a great example of how our platform can be flexibly configured to the unique digital health needs of hospitals and healthcare services and look forward to extending our digital transformation work with Northern Health into other exciting areas.”
Recently, a patient-reported experience measure (PREM) has been added, as well as integrations with existing health information systems are also being planned as part of the ongoing collaboration between The Clinician and Northern Health.
Additionally, Northern Health plans to use the company’s solution to support ambulatory and other healthcare professional services across the hospital.
